background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">1940年10月，共产党领导的新四军，东进取得了黄桥决战胜利，新四军八路军在白驹狮子口会师。1941年春，中共兴化县委派朱光、黄克明等来西团镇西部的大龙地区（义教乡一带）开辟根据地，秘密发展党员，建立党组织。6月20日，大龙地区第一个党支部在义教乡成立。1943年，黄浦乡也建立了党支部，周长根的家东窑乡大东河村就属黄浦乡。新四军来到周长根家乡，宣传抗日组织抗日，16岁的周长根接受教育，当上村儿童团团长，带领几十个儿童团员，肩扛木棍，学唱革命歌曲“大刀向鬼子们的头上砍去”，站岗放哨。当年底，从老家南京来的中共女党员姚仲仁，被党组织调到堤东区黄浦乡工作任中共黄浦乡指导员。姚仲仁出生于南京市中华门内边，是姚崇山、于自芳夫妇的长女。1941年春，姚仲仁经地下党介绍来东台工作，同年加入中国共产党。1943年初，姚仲仁在西渣区做民运工作。姚仲仁所到的黄浦乡，地处三十里河南，五十里河北地段，四面临敌，环境恶劣。姚仲仁毫不畏惧，在周长根心中，她大眼睛、齐耳短发、20来岁的苏南美女，风风火火，一到黄浦就扎根于群众，着布衣、穿草鞋、睡地铺、吃粗饭、找“小户”、钻茅屋，访贫苦，讲抗日，谈统战，搞斗争，宣传发动组织群众，建立起工抗会、农抗会、妇抗会，和当地青年陈金南等一起积极开展“二五减租”运动。</p><p style="padding: 0px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">1944年10月，姚仲仁介绍周长根到台北县（现大丰）大桥口的盐垦中学训练班学习，盐垦中学校长孙慰民。训练班有450多名学员，在训练班里学政治、文化、军事。校领导给他们介绍的国际反法西斯战场形势，中国抗战正处在最艰苦、最激烈的相持阶段，要树立信心，全国人民团结一致，早日把日本帝国主义及其走狗赶出去。这个训练班本要办半年，由于苏中的抗日斗争由相持阶段转入局部反攻，形势发展急需用人，3个月就结束了。1945年1月，周长根被分配到台北县堤东区当办事员，后当司务长。</p><p style="padding: 0px; white-space: normal; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">面临失败的日伪作垂死挣扎，对我根据地抓紧“扫荡”。1945年农历三月（4月16日），中共堤东区委得到情报，白驹伪军要下乡袭击区机关。区委决定游击连除留一个班警卫机关外，全部埋伏于白驹东，伏击来犯之敌。区政府机关转移到黄浦乡西南陈家墩（现属黄浦村）继续开会。深夜散会后，分三处住宿，姚仲仁住陈文则家。区游击连驻扎区政府西十多里的马家舍。翌晨，狡猾的敌人取途马垛偷袭区机关，先俘哨兵，再围陈宅，但不进屋，鸣枪嚎叫着要屋内人“投降”，还点火烧房。此刻，姚仲仁机智勇敢，沉着应付，先藏好随身公文包，后搀陈文则的小儿陈鹤友走出，敌人一把抓住她问：“你是什么人？”“我是他嫂子。”姚仲仁不慌不忙指着12岁小陈回答。可叛徒、伪乡长杨开德认出她就是姚仲仁，便象恶狼一样朝她扑过来，声嘶力竭地吼叫“快说，还有干部在哪？”姚仲仁昂首怒目，默不作声。敌人又暴跳狂吼：“你想不想活，想活就快说！”面对敌人的威逼利诱，姚仲仁大骂：“小日本的日子已经不长了，看你们这些卖国求荣的狗汉奸还能逞凶几时？”她大义凛然，被穷凶极恶的伪军杀害。</p><p style="padding: 0px; text-align: justify; white-space: normal; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">姚仲仁牺牲当晚，周长根和民政股长练文根（东台弶港人，党员，组织史中记其在1946.12-1947.4间曾任川港区政府副区长），同住村南一农民家中。他们听到外边枪声，知道伪军已封锁大门，周长根迅速从窗户跳出，又拉出练文根。俩人向东突围，不远处有一条南北向宽深水沟，游过水沟就安全了。住在村东一农民家中的正副区长茅林、杨易林也安全突围。</p><p style="padding: 0px; text-align: justify; white-space: normal; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">引导周长根参加革命的大姐姚仲仁牺牲后，大家化悲痛为力量，与日伪进行了更坚决的斗争。周长根向组织提出要为姚指导员报仇，上前线杀敌。周长根有上过几年私塾底子，被上级编入台北县独立团堤东区游击连，任文书。《中国共产党江苏省大丰县组织史资料》中有两段关于周长根情况的记述：在1946年7月至1946年9月，他任垦北区游击连副指导员；他于1947年1月至1948年5月（负伤离开了游击连），担任草堰区游击连指导员。从此，周长根随部队一起度过了数十年的战斗岁月。</p><p style="padding: 0px; text-align: justify; white-space: normal; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);"><span style="padding: 0px; margin: 0px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); text-indent: 2em;">周长根对参军后所打的第一仗至今还记忆犹新。1945年4月一天，堤东游击连在现大丰境内的白驹三里窑、五里坟处伏击“扫荡”的日伪。那天得到的情报是鬼子、伪军不多。哪知，这次鬼子有一个小队20多人，伪军有一个中队40多人，遭到游击连伏击后还有增兵迹象。在打退敌一次次冲锋后，游击连曹连长（查《中共大丰县组织史资料》连长曹正桐）、陶指导员（查《中共大丰县组织史资料》指导员陶毅）果断下达撤退命令，周长根和战友们边打边撤。此仗他们无人牺牲，有五六人负伤，保全了有生力量，打击了日伪的嚣张气焰。战斗结束后，曹连长笑着逗周长根说：“小周，你打几发子弹？打死几个鬼子？”周长根5发子弹中2发哑弹，另3发打了光头，红着脸不知如何回答。曹连长说：“在战场上要沉着冷静，开枪射击，最重要的是要看准目标。”于是手把手地教导周长根如何举枪、瞄准、射击。连长后来就叫大家唱《游击队之歌》：“我们都是神枪手，每一颗子弹消灭一个敌人……”从此，周长根便知不能乱放枪要节约子弹。</span></p><p style="padding: 0px; text-align: justify; white-space: normal; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">众所周知，在抗战期间，八路军新四军是中国共产党领导的武装力量，也经历了若干苦战，同是国防力量，战时也被编入了国民革命军（国军）战斗序列。而1945年8月15日，日本宣布无条件投降，抗日战争取得伟大胜利后，蒋介石却下令不准我军接受日军投降，完全是蛮不讲理。周长根和战友们坚决执行毛主席、朱总司令：“敌人不投降，就坚决消灭它”的命令。8月15日晚，台北独立团包围了盘踞东台富安伪军。平时为虎作伥的伪军被打得惊慌失措，哭天叫地。战斗打了一夜，伪军四散逃跑，我军进入富安，受到百姓欢迎。指战员来不及休整，又发扬连续作战、顽强攻坚精神，投入了打东台、兴化、如皋、盐城战斗，当初杀害姚仲仁烈士（引路大姐）的伪班长也被击毙。9月13日，苏中主力和东台独立团等部消灭了大中集伪军，击毙伪旅长谷振之，生俘伪参谋长吴瑛以下1500余人。周长根所在团又马不停蹄急行军，围攻盐城南伍佑伪军，经顽强战斗，终于击溃伪军，解放伍佑。后来，周长根随20军参加过淮海战役和渡江战役，多处负伤，至今肺部还有弹片，荣立二等功。</p><p style="padding: 0px; line-height: 35px; font-size: 18px; text-indent: 2em; font-family: simsun, 宋体, Microsoft YaHei, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; text-align: justify; white-space: normal; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">采访中，周长根说到王必成（二旅旅长）攻打南阳镇，牺牲了不少人。新四军进攻时，裹棉衣，推大桌子前移，攻雕堡，死了不少人。查《大丰市志》，二旅王必成部攻打的是裕华攻坚战。在战争时期，周长根老人所说的用“土坦克”，即大桌子上放多件湿衣被而推进攻城的战例还有解放大中集的战斗也用上了。采访中，周长根提到牺牲的战友，几度哽咽，而说起自己多次与死神擦肩而过，他却显得风轻云淡。</p><p style="padding: 0px; text-align: justify; white-space: normal; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">有一场战斗，周长根军旅生涯中感到最危险、压力最大。1946年8月（史载1946年11月26日至12月1日），国民党军进攻大丰一带，周长根所部打响了三渣阻击战。“我们一连两个排基本打光了，我是三连。国民党军83师是机械化部队，他们100多人压来，对我们火力覆盖，一阵头两个排就报销了。我排在河南，被敌包围，当时我排已死5人，一班班长肖和尚（兴化人）也牺牲了。我们连长新团人，他问敌人打过来了，你们在干什么？（其实，是在安排作战任务时，他没有通知我们，把我们遗忘了。）关键时刻，我们用手榴弹炸出烟幕，冲出一条路，当时我们一个班有一挺机关枪，我班共牺牲2人，排长也牺牲了，还有8人被我带出。”周长根说。“这次十分危险，团长徐福生（音）看到我很高兴，说周长根很勇敢，还在大丰报上表扬我。后来我当了连队指导员，原指导员蔡少良（海门口音）后转业在江苏省水利厅当副厅长。”周长根继续补充道。</p><p style="padding: 0px; line-height: 35px; font-size: 18px; text-indent: 2em; font-family: simsun, 宋体, Microsoft YaHei, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; text-align: justify; white-space: normal; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">史载：“民国35年（1946年）11月26日，国民党军敌第一绥靖区司令李天霞指挥其部，连同国民党东台县保安大队及区、乡地主武装还乡团、自卫队，计约三万余人，从东台向北，进犯丁溪、草堰。华东野战军第七纵队三十一旅在丁溪河北岸阻击敌人。93团正面设防，91团，92团在丁溪东侧布防，台北警卫团（周长根所在团）配合主力部队在赵家坝、西渣一线构筑工事。11月26日晚，国民党军向华中野战军93团阵地猛烈炮击，部分工事被毁，93团3营指挥所（民房）被炸塌，营长、司号员光荣牺牲。与此同时，敌在强大炮火和轻重机枪密集火力掩护下分几路向93团阵地猛扑，妄图一举突破。阻击部队面对十几倍之敌英勇作战，顽强抗击，激战三昼夜，敌无法前进一步。11月30日，敌倾注全部兵力，在西至丁溪、东至西渣的30华里长的丁溪河段全面拉开战线。防守在西渣一线的台北警卫团（周长根所在部队）与敌展开激战，打退敌几十次疯狂攻击，毙伤敌军800余名，阻滞了敌人的进攻部署。排长杨爱新跃出战壕，端着机枪向蜂拥而至的敌军猛烈扫射，敌人尸体在他面前倒成一片，他亦为革命流尽了最后一滴血。12月1日，敌自西渣、丁溪继续向北进犯。防守在白驹的某部及区游击队，在东至七里桥、西至串场河西二里港的十里沿线，早已筑好工事，待敌来犯。上午7时许，敌人一线沿范堤公路，一线绕道朱家舍直扑白驹，被92团某部堵在南闸一带，众多的敌军借助美制武器的优势，多次向92团阵地冲击，由于92团顽强作战，敌人终未能前进一步。下午2时许，自西渣向北进犯的敌军将抵西团，刚从丁溪阻击战后北撤的九十二团三营部队在转移途中迅速抢占西团，控制北路敌军北犯的交通咽喉，于是又在西团展开了一场激烈的争夺战。傍晚敌增至两个团兵力，向92团3营的阵地多次冲击，三营副营长林为先带领部队7连，多次正面向敌冲锋，使敌人无法前进。晚9时左右，防守白驹、西团的92团完成阻击任务，奉命向北转移，参加盐南战役。转移时，副营长林为先为掩护部队，不幸被敌人六〇炮击中而光荣牺牲。”</p><p style="padding: 0px; text-align: justify; white-space: normal; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">陈恒明介绍，这3位烈士臧琦安徽人职务营长，李茂如皋人职务排长，王利兴如皋人职务炊事员，3人是1947年5月中旬我军解放白驹时阻击敌人光荣牺牲的，该部队番号是解放军华东野战军11纵31旅93团某营，战斗发生时，团部在西团。当时该部为三人举行了隆重的安葬仪式，旅长段竟焕、参谋长包克明对十四岁的陈恒明说：“小鬼，烈士安葬在这里，就拜托您照看了！”为实现对部队首长的承诺，陈恒明从14岁起，一直守护着3烈士的坟，情况紧急时就把小木牌拿掉，敌人走后再安上，在他漫长的62个岁月中，每逢节刻，按民间风俗，都到烈士坟前化纸，并多次向民政等部门回报并争取将烈士迁入陵园，2009年终于完成了老人的心愿，人民政府将三烈士迁葬到烈士陵园。除三位烈士外，陈恒明的哥哥陈恒江也是烈士，与上述三烈士同一部队，职务连指导员，陈恒江也与三战友安葬在一起。</p><p style="padding: 0px; text-align: justify; white-space: normal; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">周长根在采访中谈及新四军后作为志愿军抗美援朝的一些事。日军投降后，新四军3师黄克诚到东北，共5个旅6万多人。其中39军和43军，是新四军部队。长津湖作战，那是20军的事，我也是20军。还有9兵团，30军，26军，27军也参加了长津湖作战。“20军负责穿插，后27军再打。”周长根说道。“抗美援朝时，天气严寒，气温达零下40多度，20军有个2连，112人，上至连长，下至炊事员，全冻死阵地上。报告彭德怀司令员，指示记入军史。这112人军委档案里有。因为部队穿的是南方棉衣，十分单薄，而北方棉衣不一样，厚厚的还有毛。至于他在革命战争年代到底立了多少军功，除采访中老人佩戴着厚厚一摞熠熠生辉的奖章外，周长根老人只字未提，可见他淡泊名利的品德。</p><p style="padding: 0px;
