0, 0);"> 远在明朝，宁乡就是一个有衙署巡检司的古镇。文昌宫里有乡试预考厅，方圆百里独此一家。明万历《泰州志》记载，泰州辖十大镇中，宁乡为首。集镇如何繁荣不说，光谈寺庙就有六七个，如侯王庙、永宁庵、护国庵、准提庵，还有二三个野庙。每年的三月初三庙会，里下河九寺十八堡的百姓商贩云集宁乡，人山人海。<o:p></o:p></span></p><p style="margin-bottom: 8px;line-height: 2em;"><span style="font-family: 宋体;font-size: 17px;color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"> 宁乡镇再大，再繁华，到过宁乡的人，留下最深印象的可能还是渡口。卤汀河由南至北穿境而过，把宁乡镇分成东西两半，过往行人到宁乡或离开宁乡，只有经过东西渡口摆渡往来复去。来也匆匆，去也匆匆，人急，心急，事急，到了渡口，对不起，没有贵人贫民谁先谁后之分，只有以过河人的身份在码头依次排队，听从渡工调遣，限额上船。卤汀河水深，口面宽一百多米，南来北往的商船穿梭，白帆点点，河面无风也起浪。行船走马三分命，上了船的人，心只有放平，安全交给渡工。只要上过一次渡口的人，就会记得渡工的模样。<o:p></o:p></span></p><p style="margin-bottom: 8px;line-height: 2em;"><span style="font-family: 宋体;font-size: 17px;color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"> 东渡口在宁乡主庄台河边，码头上筑了个斜坡通向渡船。西渡口在河对岸，那边的土地与江都的宋庄、孙家舍连成一片。渡船穿过卤汀河，还要进夹河一百多米，到蔡家嘴才好下客。摆渡的木船两头略小，中间肚子大，有扶栏，两边有坐人的木板。载客6-7人，最多不超过10人。考古专家到宁乡田野调查考古，发现唐宋时期就有先民活动的遗存遗迹，那时卤汀河两岸就有渡口。谁是第一代渡工，无文字记载，说不清楚。宁乡人只记得清末民国时期的袁金玉，百姓就认他为第一代渡工。第二代渡工蔡怀珍1949年与第三代渡工邹德寿交接。如果把东西渡口比作桥墩，那么渡船便是架在卤汀河上的“浮桥”，千百年来，“桥”在水上流动，承载着两岸百姓的生产、生活，不管春夏秋冬，风雨雪霜；也不管渡工换了一茬又一茬，传了一代又一代，渡口从不停渡。流动的“桥”始终托着两岸百姓的脚步。<o:p></o:p></span></p><p style="margin-bottom: 8px;line-height: 2em;"><span style="font-family: 宋体;font-size: 17px;color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"> 宁乡渡口因设在盐运的要道口，其发挥的作用非同一般。元末，朱元璋在里下河与张士诚争取大明江山，曾一度落难草荡被追杀，是宁乡渡口的渡工把他送到放老鸦的鱼船上躲藏，在花鱼塘里，放鸦人天天花鱼烧青菜款待他，一曲《花鱼烧青菜》美食歌传唱至今。清康熙年间，江苏巡抚宋荦赈灾到宁乡，渡工渡他到西部荒田巡视灾情，留下《舟次宁乡》诗两首。尤其是宁乡巡检司，弓兵们要查路引，缉拿奸细，截获囚犯，打击走私，渡口成了巡检司的盘查前哨，渡工暗里配合，成了弓兵们的“眼睛”，有不少渡工受到巡检的奖励。宁乡有不少摆渡的渡工被选聘到巡检司当弓兵，也有明渡工、暗为弓兵的角色（兼）。清朝宁乡巡检司曾被大水两次冲毁，巡检官兵移居小纪镇办公，渡工受巡检之托，天天查路引，有情况及时报告在小纪的巡检，破获了几起走私案。宁乡渡口是民渡，但在历史上确有“官渡”、“军渡”的光荣。<o:p></o:p></span></p><p style="margin-bottom: 8px;line-height: 2em;"><span style="font-family: 宋体;font-size: 17px;color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"> 新中国成立后，宁乡以村设渡，渡工拿工分。木船换成了水泥船、又换成了铁皮船，载客量也增加了一倍。镇、村联合抓安全，立“渡规”：宁少一员不多载一客，宁可少摆一渡，也不超航道多划一浆，安全第一！渡工们训练有素，走上水，淌下水，目测上游货船，肚量下游客船；一双手，顶风踏浪划上去，桨桨安全真功夫。后来，用水泥柱打桩，石头垒站台，东渡口又增加了轮船码头的功能，兴化班、泰州班，建湖班、高港班停靠载客下客，渡口出现了新的繁荣景象。著名作家王干在高邮师范求学时，来去都在宁乡渡口码头上下船，曾写了篇散文记录此事。<o:p></o:p></span></p><p 卤汀河宁乡渡口没有桥，几百年，上千年，哪个朝代造得起？河变“洋”，世世代代唯有望“洋”叹！嘴上说桥，心中想桥，梦中盼桥，卤汀河两岸儿女在盼桥的梦里流淌了千年的泪！2012年，卤汀河宁乡段南北大桥飞架，千年古渡划上了历史的句号！最后一个渡工闵往根见证了撤渡的这一天。<o:p></o:p></span></p><section style="line-height:
